When to Fly From Cardiff

Home > Inspiration > When to Fly From Cardiff

Whilst we offer holidays from airports throughout the UK, this article is taking a look at options from our home airport, so holidays from Cardiff.  It’s only a small airport, so destinations vary depending on the time of year, generally following the sunshine, however if you live in South Wales you might have to drive to Bristol for a few more choices, or Heathrow if you want long-haul destinations.

May to September

This is the peak flying season from Cardiff airport, and you’ve got a great selection of holiday destinations to choose from.  Some of the most popular options are the obvious European destinations such as Spain, Portugal, and the Greek islands, however if you’re looking for something a little different to usual maybe you’d like to consider Croatia, Bulgaria, or Montenegro.

During the summer holidays you can fly to all the family favourites such as Mallorca, Ibiza, and the Canary Islands, and it’s so much easier when you don’t have to travel far to get to the airport, so we find Cardiff is a popular choice.

October

As we get to autumn the number of flights reduces, although there are still regular flights to Cyprus, Tunisia, Turkey, Portugal, and Spain.

November to April

In the winter months you can still reach the sunshine from Cardiff, with options including Egypt, the Costa del Sol, and the Canary Islands, plus with the arrival of Wizz Air we now have holidays to Alicante and the Costa Blanca throughout winter.  Then when spring arrives in March, so do the flights to Cyprus, as the flight schedule expands back towards the summer peak.

Worldwide Connections

If you’re looking to go further afield then we offer daily flights from Cardiff to Amsterdam with KLM, which take around 1¼ hours, and from there you have a huge choice of connections right around the world, whether you’re heading to the USA and Caribbean, or maybe Thailand or Dubai.

Why Choose Cardiff Airport?

It’s not just the fact it’s our closest airport, we love flying from Cardiff because it’s small and compact, so we find it a lot less stressful than some larger airports, especially when travelling with kids. It’s got good parking and easy drop-offs, and never far to walk.
